Nursery
Welcome to De Havilland Primary School’s Nursery Class – Acorn
Nursery Provision
Historically, Nursery aged children have been entitled to 15 hours of Free Early Education here at De Havilland. This will continue, with daily provision available from 8.45am - 11.45am for the children.
From September 2023 we were excited to announce our Nursery would be offering 30 hours of high quality Free Early Education (subject to eligibility) to our local community. We knew that by offering the 30 hours free childcare we would be able to help our working families, reducing the cost of childcare and removing the added stress of trying to find high quality wraparound care in the local area. By doing so we fully support our parents wishing to return to work or extend their working hours. We believe that in doing so; your child will be further develop your child’s readiness for Reception.
Since September 2024 we have been offering paid extended childcare sessions, to further support our community members who may not be eligible for the 30 hour free extended childcare. For further details, please contact the school office.
Should you wish to take advantage of this, our Nursery will offer 30 hours of high quality early education between the hours of 8.45am and 3.15pm, Monday – Friday. Lunchtime will operate during the day between 11.45am – 12.15pm. You will be requested to provide your child with a packed lunch. School provides a snack in the morning at no extra cost to yourselves and will also provide a snack of fruit and milk/water in the afternoon should your child stay in the afternoon for these additional hours.
For more information and to find out if your child would be eligible for 30 hours Free Early Education please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/
If you only wish your child to attend for the 15 Hours Free Early Education, please note that we run separate afternoon and morning sessions on a full time basis (ie attending half the day, morning or afternoon Monday – Friday).
If your child will only be attending 15 hours a week, they will be allocated either a morning or afternoon session if your application is successful – we do not currently offer flexible part-time places.
Nursery Admissions are managed by the school and run broadly in line with Hertfordshire County Council’s dates for Reception Admissions, apart from the deadline for admissions which is later.
