R.E.

Our philosophy for teaching RE is to enable our children to develop an awareness and understanding of their own religious beliefs and those of others.

We support our children in recognising the right of people to hold different beliefs within a religiously diverse society.

We provide our children with opportunities to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of principal religions represented in Great Britain. These include Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism, each of which is represented in Hertfordshire.

Through a range of real life experiences we help children develop an understanding of the influences of beliefs, values and traditions on individuals, communities, societies and culture.To enhance pupils own spiritual, moral, cultural and social development we help our children by…

  1. developing awareness of the fundamental questions of life arising from human experiences, and how religious beliefs and practices can relate to them;
  2. responding to the fundamental questions of life in the light of their experience and with reference to religious beliefs and practices;
  3. reflecting on their own beliefs, values and experiences in the light of their study;
  4. expressing their own personal viewpoints in a thoughtful, reasoned and considerate way
