An Arts Week to Remember
This week at De Havilland Primary School the children have been on a creative journey to Rio! Our resilient learners have collaborated with classes across the school and produced an amazing variety of mixed media art learning. Throughout the week, the children have experienced learning from an array of different skillsets. These have ranged from, Brazilian drumming called the ‘Batucada’ (Bat-oo-cad-a), face and body art; creating a multitude of animals found in the rainforest; origami; samba dancing; clay sculpting and most importantly; preparing the school for a carnival-themed showcase on Friday.
During the week, the children have enjoyed teaming up with those across the school, with Reception classes working alongside those in Year 6; allowing for a host of learning behaviours to be displayed, including: sharing ideas; working collaboratively; asking questions; problem solving and taking risks.
The children have had an absolute ‘blast’ this week with one proud Year 4 child asking, ‘Could we do this every week?’ whilst holding up his Brazilian face-mask. Another from Year 2 shared: ‘I don’t want this week to ever end,’ as they finished painting their rainforest animal to hang from the vine.
Suffice to say, this week has been a roaring success!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Hannan for organising the week, and to our wonderful team of staff for all of their efforts and energy.
